Moths and monsters

The poor mothing season continues.....set the trap last night not expecting much...and thats what I got...not much.....a new record for Cockchafers, 6, in the trap, so I seem to be setting it more for them than the moths!!
I checked with a couple of friends last week to see if it was just here that was a bit of a let down, but they reported very low catches too, which isnt promising as one was in Hastings and another in Horsham, so thats fairly widespread.  Probably last years poor breeding season, same for butterflies and birds, with the added bonus of a cold, rainy spring......
Anyway, a few pics....

Peppered Moth

Flame Shoulder

Shuttle-shaped Dart

Tawny Shears

....and a couple of Cockchafer pics as they are such fabulous insects....they have a tremendous grip!
