Less...is sometimes more...

Only seven (7) moths in the trap this morning....poor....again.  Have just been reading that the Sussex Moth Recorder has said it is the poorest start to the recording year for moths for 50 years....im not surprised...hopefully the coming Summers will be a lot better for Moths, Butterflies and creepy crawlies in general....

In the meantime...highlights.....

Apparently I cant be 100% certain that this is a Marbled Minor as several of the Minors can only truly be told apart from dissection of the genitalia.  Two things (ha ha, if you're a bloke anyway!), firstly, im not in to all that dissection stuff as I prefer to let them go (and possibly due to the lack of moths it might be a good idea to let them go rather than kill them just to prove a very small point).  Secondly, when I looked at the picture in a couple of books it looks like a Marbled Minor rather than any of the others.
Marbled Minor

Top drawer.  As the commentators say.  And it is.  They dont come along too often and im guessing that for most people the big 'beasts' are the ones that entice people to go-a-mothing and when people go along to moth nights they are the ones that the crowd is baying for (quietly).
