Two Dragons in the pond

The pond provides much of the excitement at the  moment...first I found this a week or two ago....

....apparently its a Broad-bodied Chaser larvae....there are several in the pond....

Then...I found this.....crawling across the top of the pond just a couple of days ago...

...and this, Im assured, is a Hawker larvae...probably Southern Hawker...which is fantastic news as I had assumed it was simply a Chaser larvae that had finally reached the stage ready to become an adult.  Bit of a result having had two Dragons using the pond!

Since then I have not found it again nor seen an adult flying though I will continue to monitor the pond as much as possible.

Most of the frogs spawn has hatched, Im guessing the remainder will not hatch, that is nature....

Above is one of the tadpoles in the pond....

...and here are some indoors being watched by my little boy...fascinating stuff for kids and adults alike..

Finally...heres a better picture of one of the Pond Skaters....much better detail seen when the sun is shining on it.
