New Moth....New Spider

In the garden last week I spied this micro moth flying.  It landed on the Cottoneaster, which itself is busy on sunny days with bees.  The leaves of the Cottoneaster, as you probably know, arent that big themselves, around the size of your finger nail, so it gives you an idea of the size of the moth itself...anyway, here it is....

On the moth trap this week a new spider for me....

Lesser Garden Spider, Metellina segmentata

I did identify it as this via the British Arachnological Society page but have waited for confirmation from someone who knows spiders better than me.

I have managed to run the trap a couple of times this week but the cold weather, blowing from the East and the past couple of days from the North, have put paid to that.  Still, its only early May and the heady days of large numbers of moths are still a little way off in July and August at the height of the insect season.
