15

A couple of hot days with a clear sky over night produced another large haul of moths....around 270....obviously some species are more numerous than others....heres a moth that I dont think I have highlighted previously here, its one of the easier moths to identify as they come in good numbers at times...and last night was one of those times with around 40 or so....

Dark Arches, Apamea monoglypha

Other moths dont turn up in big numbers but always turn up at some point....

Miller, Acronicta leporina

Pebble Hook-tip, Drepana falcataria

Fruit tree moths regularly show, usually the Light Brown Apple Moth...so heres a different micro moth....

Large Fruit-tree Tortrix, Archips podana

Its always great to find Hawkmoths in the trap and since moving here they are more regular and in better numbers, especially Elephant Hawkmoths....I think the best I have caught previously was around 6 or 7...but last nights catch provided....15!

Elephant Hawkmoth, Deilephila elpenor
