Just as I was complaining about the overcast and dull weather affecting the moth trapping sessions and along comes a bigger catch than I have had for a few days now....including a new moth yet again.....but first....
Heres a moth that I have seen a good number of times, though not in pristine condition its still fairly good. Nice to get in the trap if for no other reason than its easy to i.d.
Buff Arches
Heres the new moth, its quite worn actually so virtually no pattern remains. However, it being almost plain grey gives its potential i.d., reducing it to a couple of possibilities Great or Pale Oak Beauty. Great Oak Beauty has more of a pattern so would retain that much better. The main clue with this though is the spots seen from the underside, being different on both the moths. If I get another one I will get a photo of that, sadly this one has already flown.
