Wild animals

....in the garden....

Misumenia vatia Crab Spider

My son, Henry, who is 4, found this spider sitting on a white flower....fabulous place to hide...unless you are trying to hide from a four year old boy!

Leech

I was looking through the duckweed in the pond, hoping for a dragonfly larvae that may be preparing to leave when I came across three leeches!..Wow!!  Since then I have found loads of them, though im still trying to identify them.  Luckily there arent many that live in this country, so im hoping to sort this out soon.

Charlock

Since we have started 'sorting' the garden this plant appeared....we are fairly confident that its Charlock, though im still unsure if its edible even if it is in the cabbage family....talking of which....

Cabbage

We have no intention to eat these, we have planted them so that the butterflies can have their merry way...and then the caterpillars can do the same....or....

Stinging Nettles

Im guessing not too many people actually plant these, but I did the other day, stolen from the countryside, though I dont think anyone will mind?!  So if the butterflies dont like the cabbage, they can have the nettles instead.

Bluebells

Creeping Buttercup

Yellow Poppy

Runner beans

Bugle
